Our Students
One of the values of Hawthorne Midwives is to be a place of learning and growth. For this reason we strive to include student midwives in your care as much as possible. We work with the Midwifery Education Program, where students come to do their placements in our clinic. Students work at different levels depending on where they are at in their degree. While it is not compulsory to have students involved in your care, we would encourage you to speak to your midwife about students, as they can add a lot of value to your experience.

Hi, I’m Yara Elmeadawy, a senior midwifery student currently registered at Toronto Metropolitan University. I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Hawthorne Midwives and to continue learning and growing in this incredible field.
Before pursuing midwifery, I earned my degree in Science, which provided me with a solid foundation in understanding the human body and the importance of evidence-based practice. This background fuels my deep belief in the autonomy of clients and the value of empowering individuals to make decisions that align with their personal needs and values.
I’m passionate about providing culturally sensitive care, and I’m excited to serve the diverse community at Hawthorne Midwives. I truly believe in a holistic approach to care, one that honors both the physical and emotional aspects of the birthing experience. As I continue my journey, I’m looking forward to expanding my knowledge and skills in prenatal and childbirth care, while making sure that I honor the authority of each client’s voice and choices.
Beyond midwifery, I’m deeply connected to nature and my roots, and I find that this connection shapes the way I approach care with compassion and respect. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from the experienced team here at Hawthorne Midwives, and I’m eager to contribute in any way I can to positively impact the lives of families. Thank you for welcoming me into this community, and I look forward to sharing in the experiences and journeys of the families we serve.

Madelyne Kocsis
Student
Hello!
My name is Madelyne (she/her) and I am a 4th year Midwifery student at McMaster University.
While the field of obstetrics has long fascinated me, I truly appreciate the midwifery model of care
because of how it empowers parents in their pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum experience. I
deeply value informed choice and collaborative decision making to support the needs and desires of
families during this special time. It is such a beautiful profession that I feel honoured to be a part of.
I have completed the previous portions of my training in the Kitchener, Milton, and Hamilton
communities, and am thrilled to be rejoining Hawthorne Midwives for my final year of my education.
When not busy with birthing and babies, I enjoy baking, playing the piano, and travelling.
Thank you for involving me in your care, I’m honoured to be a part of your pregnancy and postpartum
journey!
