One of the values of Hawthorne Midwives is to be a place of learning and growth. For this reason we strive to include student midwives in your care as much as possible. We work with the Midwifery Education Program, where students come to do their placements in our clinic. Students work at different levels depending on where they are at in their degree. While it is not compulsory to have students involved in your care, we would encourage you to speak to your midwife about students, as they can add a lot of value to your experience.

As a homeschooling mother of four, she enjoys cooking (and eating!) spicy food, volunteering in the community with her kids, and hiking in the Escarpment.
Greetings 🙂 My name is Zaynab, and I am in my senior year of the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University.
I am very honoured and excited for this opportunity to carry forward my learning at Hawthorne Midwives, and I look forward to assisting in the provision of excellent care, education, and support for client, baby, and family.
As a new mom myself I have become more aware and appreciative of the healthcare services and resources available to parents in the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum periods, and how positive and impactful they can be. As a person from a multicultural background, I am conscious of the impact that respectful, accommodating, and reflective care can have with clients. As a student learner, I am aware of the importance of evidence-based practice, diligent care, and interprofessional relations and collaboration.
I am a quiet, friendly, caring, and hardworking person. My previous education includes an Arts and Science bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto Mississauga. To be a midwife has been a dream of mine, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work towards that dream with you. Thank you for the opportunity!
